Astilbin, a flavonol found in Rhizoma, and salvestrol Q40, a compound that can be extracted from dried tangerine peels, have both been separately determined to play a role in controlling the growth of lymphoma cancer cells. Research has shown that astilbin inhibits lymphocyte function and migration while salvestrol Q40 can be activated once inside human cancer cells by an enzyme, causing the cancer cells to stop growing and die. The purpose of this project is to theorize the possible collaborative effects of these two compounds on lymphoma cancer cells based on previous proven studies.
