Let There Be Light! |
|
Todays consumer has two choices when it comes to buying a light bulb: LED or incandescent. Traditionally, incandescent light bulbs were chosen by the majority of people due to their very low cost. In recent years, however, despite their high cost, the LED bulb has risen to the top, beating out everything on the market for reliability, efficiency and longevity.
In this experiment, both bulb types were tested based on their efficiency in illumination, energy consumption and initial cost. A digital multimeter and photocell was utilized to capture illumination readings. Results indicate that the LED bulb was far more energy efficient, but more costly than the incandescent bulb, and yielded a higher illumination reading.
