A Swimmer's Drag |
|
Different materials offer different resistance to water flow. "A Swimmer's Drag" is a project that tests the amount of resistance that different swimming materials experience in the water. This is tested on a metal rod with a certain flow of water. However this flow may be changed if one desires, mimicking the changes in speed of the swimmer. Different swim suit materials are tested, as are swim caps and so on. So far there has been a tendency that the sleeker, stretchier materials create less drag. The application of this project is to bring the materials that offer less drag into swimming and allow the swimmer to go faster.
