Our project is an investigation of the scientific, social and economic issue surrounding the egg industry. For our investigation, we created a survey for grocery store managers, chicken farmers and the general public to determine how informed they are when it comes to egg nutrition, treatment of egg-laying chickens and the economics of the egg industry. Furthermore, we have compared the nutritional values found on egg cartons bought from local grocery stores and local egg farms with the information gathered from research and surveys to see if there are any relations with chicken type. Chicken instinct and welfare, feed type, nutritional values of egg varieties are all part of our meta-analysis. Our project is geared towards informing the public on what types of the impacts consumers have on the egg industry, their personal health and welfare and health of the chickens as well.
