How Permanent Is Your Permanent Marker? Alexis Agbonmwandolor and Alisha Kumar John Oliver Floor Location: J106V

The idea that we plan to do tests how permanent permanent markers are. Which solvents (eg. cleaning products and detergent) will remove the said “irremovable” ink? Do different types/brands of markers (Sharpie, Memorex) produce the same results? We think that out of all of the markers, the Sharpie will stay the mot visible because the Sharpie seems to be the most commonly bought marker. Therefore, the company must do its best to make the marker as permanent as possible. We think that some of the solvents may make the Sharpie fade, like the Tide to Go: Stain pen and the Windex due to the chemicals in these solvents. We also think that the Permanent Marker will be fairly visibly due to the high amount of alcohol in the ink (compared to the other markers). Our hypothesis is that, due to the amount of alcohol in the marker, the solvents will have a hard time removing the mark created by the Sharpie Permanent Marker.
