People apply makeup to look better, but by applying cosmetics you may leave with colonies of bacteria swarming all over your face. When putting on makeup you are putting your skin, lips and eyes in danger of infections, viruses and harmful bacteria. Many clips in the media have warned people on the harms of sharing makeup and the hazards that follow, yet people still share makeup everyday without realizing the harms. Makeup samples found in many department and drug stores carry many unsafe bacteria that can cause infections and viruses, such as staphylococcus, which causes pink eye and many eye infections. In our experiment, we tested to see if makeup contains bacteria and germs. We also discovered if makeup that was used often and by more people contained more germs than makeup that was not shared or used often. People do not realize the germs they are putting themselves at risk with when using makeup, until it is too late.
