Due to the recent winter snow storms that have impacted all over the Vancouver region and the increasing amounts of car accidents, my partner and I decided to investigate the basic traction of several different types of tires. Also, materials such as large pieces of salt were used on the ground to improve traction and help melt the ice. However salt is very harmful to our already degrading environment. So my partner and I strive to find a separate and efficient way of gaining traction on ice but keep it quite healthy. Our hypothesis is that the Winter Tire and used with crushed egg shells would prove as a worthy combination due to the hardness of the egg shells making it more prone to traction. Also the pure fact that the Winter Tire is specified to concentrate on the freezing winter season also compelled our hypothesis. After much testing and observation however, we found out that the All Season tire utilized with crushed walnuts proved to be the most effective combination in our project. We hope this information will aid people in the choosing of which tires would halt the increase in car accidents.
