Too Fast, Too Furious
is a science fair project on reflexes. The purpose of this project was to determine
whether reflexes are affected by age and gender. I decided chose this topic
because, I am passionate about sports. Reflexes are a key aspect in being a
successful athlete.
My variables were
as follows:
Manipulative Variable: Age and Gender
Controlled: Same situation, Quiet environment, Same Colors, Same Computer, Same
Mouse
Responding: Reflex Time
I performed the reflex test in the Mulgrave library between the times of 10:00am -2:00pm. I used the same computer and mouse. And the background colour that changed was the same colour for every student. The procedure took the longest amount of time. I tested twelve children from the grades one thru seven. As the results were tallied up it was clear that the reflexes of the younger children were not as fast as their older peers. As I analyzed my work it was obvious to me that the reflexes were not affected by gender as much as age. In conclusion, according to the results that I obtained it was clear to me that reflexes of children were affected by age but, not by gender.
